My Birth Story!

Ok well I got to the hospital this morning around 6:00. I FINALLY got back into my room around 8:00. They got me hooked up to my IV and my pitocin by around 8:30. They checked me and I was still only 2 cm dialated when I got here this morning. My doctor had so many patients today that I still hadn't seen him around lunch. By this time I was doubled over in pain and crying from the constant contractions that I was having. Nobody had checked me since I had gotten to the hospital. Finally I paged the nurse and told her I needed her to check me so that I could get my epidural. Their policy is you have to be 3 cm dialated before they give it to you. I was 6 when she came in and checked me. She had to shut my pitocin completely off so that I could get my epidural. I was hurting so bad that I couldn't sit still enough. After I got my epidural she turned the pitocin back on. It didn't take long for me to realize that I was still feeling the pain! After trying a couple things she called the anestesioligist back in. He discovered that he had kinked the line when he taped it on my back. He fixed it and within a couple minutes I was finally getting relief!! After that I relaxed and started dialating really fast. I was 10 cm within a hour of getting my epi. Unfortunatly my doctor was delivering another baby at the time. My nurse kept telling me not to push because he was just right there. I was litereally having to hold him in! It was terrible! Finally he came in, I pushed twice, and out flew Elijah!! He is a big old boy! 37 weeks and 8.5 lbs. I didn't tear or require an episiotomy so no stitches for me!! Whoo Hoo! Because I had to hold him in for so long he has a bruise running down the front of his sweet little face. His forehead, noise, and chin are purple. On a good note he has been breastfeeding like a champ, just like his big brother did!! Here are some pictures!

OMG he is soooo cute!!! Fat cheeks...I LOVE them!!! I bet his bruising will be gone by morning. Ethan had one on his cheek from the forceps and it was gone within 8 hours.
